
APPOINTMENT OF RECTOR
At its meeting held on Thursday, 25th September 2008, the Council of GIMPA appointed Professor Yaw Agyeman Badu Rector of GIMPA with effect from 15th December 2008.
Professor Agyeman Badu takes over from the current Rector, Professor Stephen Adei, who attains the statutory retiring age of sixty on 14th December, 2008.
Born on 12th January 1952, Professor Agyeman Badu attended Asanteman Secondary School from 1964 to 1969. He entered the University of Ghana in 1971 and graduated in June 1974 with combined honours in Economics and Political Science. He obtained Masters Degree in Public Administration and was awarded a PhD degree in International Relations and Public Administration, at the University of South Carolina in the United States of America, in 1975 and in 1980 respectively.
Professor Agyeman Badu has held various positions in academia including Deputy Rector and Dean of Academic Affairs at GIMPA, Associate Dean and Professor of Finance at the school of Management at Delaware State University, US.A, and Department Chair of the Department of Economics and Finance at Virginia State University, also in the U.S.A.
He has served on many important Boards, committees and programmes of GIMPA, either as chairperson, member or coordinator, and has also served on a number of public boards and committees in Ghana and abroad.
Professor Agyeman Badu has attended many national and international conferences as a participant, facilitator or discussant.
As a scholar, Professor Agyeman Badu has published extensively in his areas of specialization, which include public Administration, Public Policy, Corporate Governance and Research Methods.
He is married to Dr Afua Agyapomaa Kufuor with four children. His hobbies include a good family outing, tennis, walking and occasional preaching.
